DW2012 is one of ten races in the 2012 International Canoe Federation (ICF) Classic Marathon Series combining some of the toughest Ultra Marathon Canoe Races in the World.
The Classic Canoe Marathon World Series recognises the role that these unique competitions have had in developing the number of elite, recreational and social paddlers enjoying canoe sport today.
The Series combines the thrill and enjoyment of head to head racing with the sense of achievement that these events have, whether they be racing down rivers or across lakes, mastering the challenge of the elements all combined with river obstacles, rapids, wind waves and weirs.
The series – now in its second year – brings together the individual challenge that each race has to offer without seeking to change the unique identity and operation of the diverse competitions.
The series will highlight the importance of these established races in the International Marathon calendar. At the end of the 2012 series champions will be declared in three categories of men's kayak singles, women's kayak singles and men canoe singles. It is hoped that the introduction of a money prize for each of these champions will add to the attraction and enjoyment of the races.
For 2012 the following competitions have been selected: |
